  • Habitat: South America; cultivated mostly in Java, also India.
  • Action: Bitter Tonic, Febrifuge; Antiperiodic; Astringent.
  • Uses (Internal): malaria, anorexia, debility etc.
  • Uses (External): as poultice for felons, gangrenous ulcers etc.
  • Uses (Technical): source of quinine & other cinchona alkaloids
