Cricket plays "Hong Kong Blues" in the hotel bar where he works. The scene is from "To Have and Have Not", a 1944 romance-war-adventure film based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. The movie was directed by Howard Hawks and stars Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in her first film. Cricket is interpreted by Hoagy Carmichael (who is also credited for the co-writting - along with Johnny Mercer - of the "Hong Kong Blues" song), an American actor, composer, singer, pianist and bandleader best known for writing "Stardust", "Georgia On My Mind", "The Nearness of You", and "Heart and Soul", four of the most-recorded American songs of all time.
