A semi-synthetic dimethylheptyl derivative of THC had first been produced in the late-1940s at the University of Illinois by the famous biochemist, Roger Adams, who had managed to isolate a related chemical called cannabidiol. The dimethylheptyl derivative was then tested on inmates Lexington Addiction Research Centre who... ...were used as guinea pigs in the CIA's MK-Ultra project. According to Abrams, the derivaive is, "about 50 times as powerful as LSD and like LSD, is active in the nanogram range."
